Day 1 - Kartschner Caverns, Tombstone & Bisbee

Our first stop is a tour of the the world renowned Kartchner Caverns. It’s been featured in National Geographic and contains one of the world;s longest soda straw stalactites, at 21 feet 3 inches (Throne Room), the tallest and most massive column in Arizona, Kubla Khan: 58 feet tall (Throne Room), and the world’s most extensive formation of brushite moonmilk (Big Room). Next, we head to Tombstone, home to the infamous Gunfight at the OK Corral,  for lunch a Longhorn Saloon and some time to bask in the old town that is too tough to die.  On to Bisbee, an historic mining town with nice shopping and dining. We enjoy a Mine Museum Tour and some free time to explore, shop and an independent dinner.  We then check-in to our hotel in Sierra Vista. (D)

Day 2 - Yuma to Tucson

After breakfast in the hotel, we return to Bisbee for a Queen Mine Historic Tour and walking tour of the town, another great way to experience Arizona’s historic development. Our tour guides are retired mine workers that give the tour a personal touch. We enjoy independent lunch and revel in the past in Douglas at the historic Hotel Gadsden. Named for the Gadsden Purchase, the stately five-story, 160-room hotel became a home away from home for cattlemen, ranchers, miners, and businessmen. Our last stop is Tirrito Farms, our most contemporary visit where there are cows, but no cowboys. It’s a working eco-farm with over 200 farm animals, a brewery, dairy and contains a wine room with regional vintages. We enjoy a wine tasting before returning home, with wonderful memories of our exploration of our backyard! (B)
